Aim : At the end of this lesson, students will be able to write a paragraph with a dialogue that includes apologies and forgiveness.

Lesson

Read carefully the following text.

Text : John has been to Nigeria for business. It’s over now. He is entering the airport ready to return home. He doesn’t see the man with the plate of bread on his head, he bumps into the man and all the bread falls on the floor.

Bread seller : Have you seen what you have done to me ?

John : I am sorry  Sir, I didn’t see you at all.

Bread seller : (angrily) why don’t you watch where you are going ?

John : Let me pay for the ruined bread.

Bread seller : No, no it’s ok !

B- Read the text again and answer the comprehension questions.

  •  We apologise, when we did something bad
  • Example : IF I tear someone’s copy-book, I will say please, excuse me.
  • We forgive, when we are asked to, or we do it for free of cost.
  • Example : When my boy friend asks me forgiveness for his mistakes, I will say  no problem.

E-                                              Exercice

  • Use three (3) expressions of apologies and three (3) of forgiveness into different good sentence.
  • Example : When I break someone’s ruler I say, please, excuse me.
